RegNow

The RegNow service allows authors of shareware software to easily sell their products online. One of the features that RegNow offers is the ability for these authors to run a pay-per-sale affiliate program, paying up to 75% commission on sales (of course, many RegNow publishers offer lower percentage commissions than 75%).

If you have a web site, you also have the option of joining RegNow as an affiliate, in which case you earn commissions by helping sell these software products. After you join as an affiliate, you can use the search tools to find which products you want to affiliate to (and there are thousands to choose from, including many niche products), and retrieve affiliate linking codes. Your affiliate commissions across all the products you sell are combined, and paid by RegNow.

Furthermore, in addition to the affiliate commissions offered by the vendor, RegNow also pays up to an additional 2.5% bonus (the "rewards system") based on sales, length of affiliate service, etc.

RegNow also very powerful reporting and tracking tools (the tracking tools are excellent if you plan to advertise on pay per click search engines or Google AdWords), as well as a datafeed feature.

One issue with RegNow (also found in some other similar affiliate programs such as ClickBank), is that you only earn commission on sales that their vendors make thru RegNow, and some of the vendors may offer customers alternative methods of payments. RegNow has cleverly addressed this problem in two ways:
  1. They track "EPCs" (Earnings Per Click) for vendors, allowing you to see which vendors are most profitable for affiliates to link to.

  2. They offer an optional certification program to vendors, which requires that vendors sell only through RegNow, and affiliates can easily see which vendors are certified.
One other interesting feature of RegNow is a branding feature. This allows affiliates to link to a vendor using a special "Style ID" code. This Style ID then customizes the order page to appear exactly how the affiliate wants it.

RegNow also offers a fairly limited two tier program. If you refer an affiliate, you earn 5% of the commissions that they make in their first 90 days as an affiliate. I say this is limited, because 5% of a typical commission is not much (5% of 50% commission is only 2.5% of the sales price, 5% of 75% commission is only 3.75% of the sales price), and the 5% is only for a very limited time only. So while yes, I use an a referral link in this page, I'm not really expecting to earn much if anything with it (but if I'm proved wrong by my 2-tier results, I'll update this page and admit it!).

Gripes about the two tier element aside, I do like the RegNow affiliate program. What I like best is:
  • The massive choice of niche products

  • Many of the products have high commission rates

  • The fact that many of the products are not being effectively marketed by others (unlike say ClickBank where many of the leading products are being heavily marketed by numerous other affiliates).

  • The tracking features which are excellent for pay per click search engines or Google AdWords.
