Spam Arrest

(Review prepared August 2005)

Spam Arrest is a service for reducing the amount of junk that you get in your InBox.

The way that Spam Arrest works is that when somebody new sends you an email they are sent a challenge message, to which they must respond (by clicking a link and following the instructions), or otherwise their message is not delivered. As spammers are mass emailing thousands, they're unlikely to jump through these hoops, and thus their spam email never gets to you. Spam Arrest works with your existing email service (AOL, HotMail, Yahoo!, etc.) and/or existing email program (Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.)

In the Spam Arrest affiliate program, you earn money by refering others to this useful service:
  • If you refer somebody to the service, you earn 50% of their sign-up fee (at the time of writing approximately $10).

  • If you refer somebody to the service, and they refer somebody else (known as a "2nd Tier Referral"), you earn 35% of their sign-up fee (at the time of writing approximately $7).

  • If one of your 2nd tier referrals refers somebody to the service (known as a "3rd Tier Referral"), you earn 20% of their sign-up fee (at the time of writing approximately $4).

  • As Spam Arrest viral markets itself to people sending Spam Arrest users email, provided you get lots of 1st tier referrals, although you don't have any direct control over it, hopefully 2nd and 3rd tier referrals should follow... and hopefully generate a residual income stream.
The audience for the Spam Arrest product is potentially massive, and the sales commission structure seems to offer an excellent opportunity, and I would think many sites, especially those offering email services (free email services, greeting cards, ISPs), should be able to refer lots of users.

Finally, apparently for a limited time-only, if you refer another affiliate, you get 10% of their earnings.
